Kids and Teens Summer 2009 Program for - Now Accepting Referrals

In 2007, we piloted two new treatment elements, L.U.N.C.H. PointsTM and Community-Based Activities.  Our post-session data was extremely robust:  One our 1-5 (where 5 is best) point scale, student participants gave an overall program rating of 4.5 and parents gave a rating of 4.7 (click for more detailed reporting for 2007 and 2006).

Our 2007-08 data for our current school year program is equally positive.  Parents report that 70-80% of their children made progress, became more patient, and engaged in more frequent social interactions, 82% of kids/teens looked forward to attending, 65% of members were more respectful and had better conversations.  88% of parents reported becoming more aware of their child's behavior being more positive and 71% developed new tools for working with their children and were more consistent with their spouse in managing behavior.

Overview of the L.U.N.C.H. Program Model for All Groups

L.U.N.C.H. is an acronym, which stands for Learning, Understanding, Negotiating, Communicating, & Helping.  Through our pre-assessment process, we identify selected target behaviors for each group member.  During the sessions, we create situations, primarily through engaging technologies, that help individuals practice positive skills to address areas of challenge.  We focus on 5 primary areas:
  1. Executive Functioning (problem solving, emotional control, attention, planning, organization, self-monitoring)
  2. Pragmatic Social Skills (awareness of others' feelings, manners, public behavior)
  3. Pragmatic Language Skills (conversational skills, summarizing information, brief clear statements, "small talk")
  4. Academic/Work Readiness (behaviors that produce success in academic and employment settings, review of selected functional academics)
  5. Environmental Awareness (pedestrian safety, community behaviors, restaurant manners)
