As a member of the California
Diagnostic Center's PENT (Positive Environments, Network of
Trainers)
Leadership Cadre, Dr. Gale participates on the research team
analyzing behavior plan effectiveness and group process, and serves
as PENT's Technology Advisor. To learn more about PENT,

Center vendor and primarily accepts referrals for

Spectrum Anxiety
Disorders (Individual Treatment)
Dr. Gale works
with children adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety-based problems
that interfere with school, work, or daily functioning. Types of
disorders treated include panic disorder, school refusal, OCD,
anxiety-related sleep problems, generalized anxiety, social phobia,
and physical symptoms associated with anxiety.

Impulse Control
Problems (Individual Treatment)
Dr. Gale provides individual treatment for children and
adults with developmental disabilities for anger management difficulties,
oppositional behavior, and conduct problems. Many of the treatment
strategies are quite similar to those used for treatment of anxiety
disorders, however with some important differences, since such behaviors
often place others, including the person losing control, at risk

Social Skills
Deficits (Child & Adolescent Groups)
Dr. Gale runs
time-limited group sessions for school-aged
individuals with Asperger’s Syndrome or High Functioning Autism, ADHD,
Nonverbal Learning Disabilities, Oppositional Defiant Disorder or related
problems with significant difficulties in social relating. Participants
learn effective ways to manage behavioral difficulties while practicing
effective social interaction strategies.
Services are available for children and adolescents aged 9 to 17 years of age Target
areas involve rigidity, difficulty controlling anger, social anxiety, and
restricted ranges of interest. Group is time-limited and, treatment, in
part, is customized based on pre-assessment surveys completed by students,
parents, and teachers.
Individuals with acute psychiatric disturbance, chemical-dependency, or who
exhibit unstable impulse control problems are not appropriate for this group.

Social Skills
Deficits (Adult Individual & Group Treatment)
Dr.
Gale runs two ongoing groups for adults who have Asperger’s Syndrome
or High Functioning Autism, ADHD, Nonverbal Learning Disabilities.
Group treatment is offered to adults 18 and older with significant
difficulties socializing and problem solving in daily life.
Regional Center funding is accepted. Typical clients in groups
are diagnosed with any of the following:

Asperger’s Syndrome and related disorders
-
Moderate to severe learning disabilities
-
Mild
ADHD with the need for social skills development
-
Mild
mental retardation
-
Dual
diagnoses of MR and anxiety disorders or mild to moderate depression.
Individuals with acute psychiatric disturbance, chemical-dependency, or who
exhibit unstable impulse control problems are not appropriate for this group.

Behavioral
Assessment and Intervention
Dr. Gale provides
behavioral consulting services, working with school districts and
privately with children and families. Behaviors to be targeted often
include: oppositional or defiant behavior; impulse control problems;
and other behavior problems that significantly impact individuals
and/or family members.

Dr. Gale has also
developed specialized assessments for children and adolescents based upon their
specific treatment needs. His latest instrument, the C-BATT Rapid Screener,
helps rapidly identify problem behaviors broken down into
descriptive categories. This on-line instrument can be
completed by any adult who knows the individual being rated
reasonably well. Although the tool itself is descriptive, it
links to nationally normed instruments and can produce an acuity
index, if needed. It also links to Dr. Gale's other
C-BATT online programs:
Functional Analysis, Progress Communicator, and e-Points, a
sophisticated online token economy system.

Psychological Assessment
Psychodiagnostic and
psychoeducational assessment is available for children aged 5-22, and adults
with suspected developmentally disabling conditions. Dr. Gale specializes
in assessing cognition, learning, attention, executive functioning, and adaptive
behavior as part of the evaluation process.

Seminars & Training
Primarily for teachers, other
educational professionals, psychologists and other mental health
professionals. Topics include: Managing Difficult Behaviors,
Discrete Trial Training, General Behavior Management, Overview of
Developmental Disorders, Using Technology in Clinical Interventions,
and Quick, Powerful Data Collection methods.
